How to ask for a Date
Your first date is always going to be nerve wracking. First impressions are always going to be important but don't turn yourself into a nervous wreck worrying about what your dates expectations may or may not be.
Follow the simple steps under The Right Impression and generally make the best of yourself. If you have an abundance of confidence then lucky you. There are thousands of us out there that are not so lucky and have the nails to show for it.
You need to tell yourself, you're going to have a good time. If its meant to be its meant to be and the more you look at it like this the easier it is going to be to have a good time.
There is a bit of ground work you can do before your date which will help towards it being a success. Communicate, its that simple. If you haven't already done so, find out about each others interests. Try to avoid interrogating her with personal questions. Instead ask about good times and experiences, obviously missing out the ones that included another partner. Try not to gloat or sound condescending about personal experience or achievements. It will soon wear thin.
Try to plan a date were you both stand a good chance of enjoying yourselves, a common hobby or interest. Imagine organising a nice day out at the zoo only to find your date is allergic to animal fur. Not good, or booking a curry for 2 only to find out she thinks bbq sauce is hot.
Do not dress casual, smart casual should be the plan. Avoid training shoes and no dad jumpers, you know the ones. That dodgy red knitted jumper with a frog on the front. Ok that's a bit far fetched. I don't think anyone would actually think of doing that but you get the picture.
Remember that your date will probably be just as nervous as you are. If you both get the chance to have swift drink, it can help break the ice. Taking flowers always works well. Do not try to buy popularity points with some outlandish gift. Get to know each other first.
Try and keep your sense of humor up and always appear interested. Don't slouch and don't show signs of boredom. Ie drawing circles on the table with your finger or playing with your food whilst looking down at your plate, doesn't go down to well.
